Dear Advocate,
Whether you are a parent, student, librarian or community member, we want to welcome you to the fight for school libraries and librarians. We know that stepping into advocacy can feel daunting. Before becoming Librarians = Literacy, we were just parents who saw a problem and thought: this is awful, what can we do? So, we started learning more, speaking up and figuring out ways to help. We encourage you to do the same.
To help make your first steps as easy as possible, we have gathered some key talking points, articles, videos and more for you to explore in our SCHOOL LIBRARIAN ADVOCACY TOOLKIT.
Please use and share these resources as you see fit. We encourage you to take things one step at a time, to explore the landscape, to educate yourself and others and to just “try something.” Whatever you can accomplish or amplify in your community is a step in the right direction and a step closer to getting our students the school libraries they deserve.
